BARYL twists jazz, its past and prejudices.
Since their debut in 2021, the baryls have made their mark on the Danish jazz
scene.

BARYL, has appeared as, among others, support for Annisette and DR's Bigband,
they have recorded an album with Marilyn Mazur and Jakob Buchanan and toured in
Denmark for the last 4 years. Baryl won Jazz Denmark's "jazz competition" in 2022
and has 2 albums behind them. Both albums have become the album of the week on
the Danish Radio channel P8 jazz.
"Baryl is in a sensitive, dynamic and universal way present in their contemporaries.
They play fearlessly, playfully and modernly, and explore the contrast between tight
compositions and completely free collective improvisations.” Says band leader
Viktoria Søndergaard
QUOTES:
The danish newspaper Politiken wrote: "In not many years the baryls may end up
becoming one of the country's most sought-after groups. They are in any case laying
the foundation for something really big."
In May 2023 they released the album "what the hell is going on?" where, among
other things, Information (also danish newspaper) writes: "Although the band name
connotes ballads, BARYL plays only the most enjoyable kind. The music is subtle
and ambitious without being silly or vain."
